Collection, Transportation and Disposal of Medical Waste

PetroSA requires an accredited service provider for the secure collection, transportation, and environmentally safe disposal of medical waste generated at its Mossel Bay GTL Refinery and offshore FA Platform. This service must comply with South African legal and regulatory frameworks including the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (Act 59 of 2008), SANS 10248-1, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993). The scope may also expand to other PetroSA business units and situations like pandemics.

To be eligible, the supplier must be an accredited medical waste service provider, capable of responding to requests within 5 working days, issuing proof of destruction certificates within 7 days, and providing compliant transport vehicles with proper SANS hazard decaling, internal spill kits, and validated decontamination tracking. The provider must ensure Waste Manifest Documents are signed upon collection and be licensed by the Department Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) to collect and transport medical waste.
