Management, Removal, Treatment and Disposal of Health Care Waste (hcrw) Contract

The contract requires bidders to supply, handle, store, collect, remove, transport, treat, and dispose of Health Care Risk Waste (HCRW) from eThekwini Municipality's Health Care Facilities. This includes waste from Central Sterilizing and Supply Department, Food Safety Laboratory, Pharmaceutical Services, highly infectious waste, and epidemic-related incidents, all in compliance with legislative frameworks such as the National Environmental Management: Waste Act. The scope also includes supplying SABS-approved single-use disposable HCRW containers, biohazardous signage, wall-mounted brackets, and providing annual training programmes for health care facility staff on HCRW management, as well as managing ad-hoc incidents and providing waste treatment and disposal services.
Bidders must be registered on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD) and the eThekwini Municipality's Database. Mandatory requirements include submitting a valid Waste Management Licence and Scheduled Activities Permit. Bidders who are not manufacturers of containers/receptacles must submit a valid service agreement or letter of intent from a manufacturer, signed on their letterhead, covering the contract period. No tenders will be considered from persons in the service of the state.
