Provision of Mirror Steered System Electronics Design and Manufacture to the CSIR

This Request for Proposals (RFP) is for the development and supply of a custom designed electronic system for the GLOSS Mirror Steered System project to the CSIR. The system is an experimental platform designed to track mach 1 targets at 100m, initially with a visual camera, with future development for long-range, high-speed tracking and Infrared Electronic Warfare (IREW) countermeasure capabilities. The scope includes the design, development, assembly, integration, and supply of printed circuit boards (PCBs), associated electronic components, wiring, modules, and subassemblies for the complete electronic system, including power distribution, motor control (azimuth and elevation for mirror, azimuth for camera), encoder reading, serial communication interface, and debug/programming interface.
Bidders must submit proposals electronically to tender@csir.co.za before the closing date and time of 09 October 2026 at 16H30. Proposals will undergo a three-phase evaluation: elimination, technical/functional, and price/preference. A minimum overall technical score of 70% (with no individual criterion below 50%) is required to proceed. Bidders must be registered on the National Treasury's Central Supplier Database (CSD) and provide a valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit to claim preference points.
